Eligibility for the Uttarakhand Civil Judge Exam  

Educational Qualifications:  

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from a recognized university established by law in India. 
  • Proficiency in Hindi (Devanagari script). 
  • Basic Computer Operation Knowledge is mandatory. 

Age Limit (As on 01 January 2025): 

  • Minimum Age: 22 years 
  • Maximum Age: 35 years 
  • Age relaxations apply for reserved categories as per the official norms.

Selection Process for the Uttarakhand Civil Judge Exam 

The Uttarakhand Civil Judge selection comprises three stages: 

1. Preliminary Examination:  

  • Objective (MCQ) type 
  • Subjects include General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Law topics (IPC, CPC, CrPC, Evidence Act, New Criminal Laws etc.) 
  • Marks scored in prelims are qualifying in nature. 
  • Negative marking of 1/4th of the marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer in the preliminary examination, as per the official guidelines. 

2. Main Examination: 

  • Descriptive type papers on: 
    • Substantive Law 
    • Procedural Law 
    • Evidence & Framing of Charges 
    • Judgment Writing 
    • Translation and Essay Writing 

3. Interview (Viva-Voce): 

  • Personality test to assess the candidate’s legal aptitude, awareness, and suitability for the judicial role. 

Merit will be prepared based on marks in Mains + Interview.

Salary of a Civil Judge in Uttarakhand 

Uttarakhand Civil Judges will be paid in the revised Pay Band J-1: ₹77,840 – ₹1,36,520 as per the government notification.

The correction window will be open from 11–21 June 2025. Only one-time edit permitted.
